The design is very nice, but the alarm clock is poorly made. When I opened the first one, I noticed a small black button on the back. I thought it was for a flashlight. I pressed and nothing happened. So I pulled out the clear plastic tab that keeps the batteries from draining. The alarm went off right away and didn't stop! I unplugged it and plugged it back in, but to no avail. With a high-pitched ringing in my ears, I tried to unscrew the back of the device, take out the batteries. As soon as I removed the backing, the whistling stopped. I looked inside and didn't notice anything extra. So I put it back together and as soon as I tightened the last screw the alarm went off again and wouldn't stop! So I disassembled it again, put it in a bag and sent it back with two other alarm clocks. I can't imagine the horror of walking down the street when the alarm clock goes off and there's nothing I can do about it.
