I've been a huge LG fan since switching from Samsung a few years ago. I really liked my LG V20 but being a software geek I needed a phone with over 4GB of RAM. Many people think that 4 gigabytes is enough for a phone, but I disagree, especially if you use a lot of software. Love it. LG makes some of the best phones in the business. Although there were a few big compromises. The V20's power button was also a fingerprint reader, located smack in the middle of the back of the phone. Of course, when I picked up the phone, my finger was right there to just press it. Very easy. Although the fingerprint reader is still in the same spot on the G8, the power button is now on the right side, meaning I have to fumble for the power button to turn it on. I know other phone brands are the same, but LG has given up something that was nominally easier for users of each hand and traded its uniqueness for more popularity. There was an error. Another thing they did was solder the battery into the device, unlike the V20 which had a removable battery. Again, I think they made this action more mainstream. Another mistake. The phone itself is great. I have a small issue with unnecessary firmware that I can't turn off (unless I root my phone) so I have to live with that. However, Samsung is the undisputed king of unnecessary firmware. 6 gigabytes of memory makes the phone very fast, so I'm very happy with it. Because of this, I wanted to change my favorite V20 and have the mission accomplished.
