Review on 🔒 YARDLOCK MBX-2016Y-3ESF Keyless Gatelock: Enhancing Security for your Gate by Vincent Bain

We have a 6 foot wooden gate with all the hardware in it. We used a padlock. This required the use of a key to unlock from the inside. If we were outside we would have to go through the house and out the side door to unlock the gate from the inside. Yardlock has solved this problem. Now we come out of our yard without a key and we can open it from the outside. We don't have to leave stuff in the driveway to walk around the house and open it from the inside. Also, we don't need all family members to have an extra gate key. This is exactly what we were looking for (apart from spending a lot more money on a new gate). Installation wasn't too difficult. Our gate is double (two doors open outwards) and we have this on one of the gate doors, with a latch on the other. For our setup I needed a long drill to go through a 2x4 (see photo). The hardest part besides drilling a long hole is getting everything lined up. The cable is more than long enough for this configuration. Setting up and changing the combination is easy. Some things that could improve this product and give me 5 stars: 1) Large combination dials or something that can be manipulated with gloves on. The combination dials are about the size of a lockable briefcase. It's good when it's warm. But in cold and snowy winters, they can be a problem. To work with the dials, you must remove your gloves. 2) I like that combination dials have a lid, but uncomfortable in winter. It would be nice if the lid was bigger, maybe more like an outdoor outlet lid that you could open with gloves on. 3) Automatic locking when closing: After unlocking, you must remember to turn the rotating wheels, otherwise it will remain unlocked. It would be nice if there was a way to automatically lock the gate when you close the gate. Addressing #1 and 2 above earns me 5 stars. Even with these minor complaints, the Yardlock satisfies our need to open gates from the inside without having a key (and without dialing a combination) and allows us to open them from the outside. So overall I am very happy with this product.
