For many years I have always been buying 10" stretched canvas on a 1/2" wooden frame in bulk. When I came across Asani canvases, I decided to give it a try. The first thing that struck me was the variety of sizes and secondly the total number of panels as I use them very often. I bought pre-primed white cotton panels from Asani. There were 28 panels, 7 of each size - 5 x 7, 8 x 10, 9 x 12 and 11 x 14. Acrylic paints and water soluble colored pencils. I use so much because my two grandkids insist on using whatever I use. This time, a three-year-old girl helped make multimedia gifts for Valentine's Day. He helped every step of the way (except for black words). Also, he made a blue one because he doesn't like pink! I've never used canvas for media, thinking it would flex and not hold. I like how the panels work. Now I will use them for multimedia and not for very thick paper. And I love the 5x7 size. So much fun. As a second medium I used Caran D'Ache Neocolor II water soluble colored pencils. I have usually used stretched canvas and hung them in a large children's room. Now completely out of space! I figured they wouldn't at least not take up much shelf space if I didn't hang them up, but I actually like the panel results better. What now? Water-soluble colored pencils do not soak into the canvas and do not spread. It seems to sit more on top, making it brighter and easier to blend. I will buy them again, not any other kind.
