Review on πŸ”ͺ Oster Master Series Blender: Texture Select, Blend-N-Go Cup & Glass Jar - Grey (6 Cups) by Cedric Ford

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A decent mixer for the price.

Switched from a pre-programmed Easter blender to this one a decade ago when the old one wasn't working consistently. The blender is good and mixes well. The plastic body feels a little cheap and flimsy compared to the traditional thick black plastic of all the old Oster blenders I've had. Useful glass for smoothies. This model is equipped with a safety lock on the blade base that prevents the glass or cup from being lifted off the base while blending. I've never seen these before but they work great with a glass jar, they screw on easily. Unfortunately, the smoothie cup isn't engineered either, and it's easy to think it's screwed down, but it's actually loose. The jug has slightly angled lugs so that the lugs rise above the stop when screwed in. A smoothie cup has no corners. So if you're not careful, the latch can hit one of the stops and make you think the floor is solid. We already had a moderate mess due to this design flaw. The automatic settings are a bit cryptic to me. The older Oster mixer had multiple presets that started when pressed and then stopped. This model, for example, has three "smoothie" settings that do slightly different things when activated, but then go into a constant blending mode and won't stop. I may not have waited long enough, but honestly, if your smoothie isn't ready in 2 minutes, I don't know what I've done wrong all these years.
