Review on 🌊 Garmin GPSMAP 86Sci: Floating Handheld GPS with Button Operation, BlueChart G3 Charts, InReach Satellite Comm, Boat Data Streaming by Yousef Abood

Unit received as ordered and unit appears to work as advertised. However, I was very disappointed because although this is marketed as a 'nautical device' with preloaded nautical charts, it will NOT work with the Captain's app active to share charts with the app or other chartplotters. It is also not covered by the "New Chart Guarantee" that other chartplotters and preloaded charts receive. My device arrived with maps that were already a year older (2019.0 on the device, 2020.0 currently). I emailed Garmin support just to get a link to an obscure support page that explains "portable devices" won't work with a map or new map warranty. I felt it was misleading marketing as the Garmin website and promotional information for their charts don't make that distinction. I would recommend buying one of the other devices available without preloaded maps, if up to date maps are important to you then buy a card with preloaded maps, the maps seem to fit.
