Review on KitchenAid KSM1FPA Food Processor Attachment by Terry Wilson

Good for onions but not much more

I bought this attachment to keep my wrist and fingers/knuckles from cutting hard veggies as I only have one working arm and one have hand First, I couldn't close the lid of the device to make it work (it could only be operated with one hand). My husband had to close it for me, so this article didn't help with independence. I suspect that over time the lid's latch will loosen and I'll find it easier to use if it still works, but... . .After assembling and attaching, I have used it with onions, eggplants and carrots. It worked great when cutting onions, although like all similar products, the end of the onion quarter is not cut, but simply rotated around the cutting blade. Cutting the aubergine didn't work at all, it just smeared it all over the skin; and finally I tried dicing the carrots. The speed had to be a little above average for this to work, and it worked well with half a carrot, then the slicer rotated the carrot, twisting it out of the blender's mounting hole and breaking the decorative metal plug on the blender's mounting hole. , and made a hole in my wooden floor. Something inside also broke and is no longer working. All other attachments still work, so luckily the blender didn't break either. The guidance/reference literature doesn't say that carrots should be avoided, and they're no heavier than sweet potatoes, so logically it should be fine. The problem was that the blender had to run at a higher speed to process the tougher vegetables, destroying this costly piece of equipment. I will contact Kitchenaid with a customer service update as soon as I receive a response.
