I bought two packs of HiLetGo CP2102 Micro USB to UART TTL 6 pin modules (4 boards). They have a chip on the board marked "CP2102". A properly working CP2102 chip should supply 3.3V through the internal regulator (there is no jumper on the board to select the voltage). The HiLetGo boards can do serial I/O, but when I checked them with an oscilloscope, I found that the 3V3 pin was 4.5V instead! Similarly, the serial I/O voltage on the TX pin was 4.5V, so connecting this to a Raspberry Pi could potentially damage the Pi.
