I did a lot of research before purchasing these speakers and I was on the border between these speakers, OWM5, The Boston Acoustic Soundware 5.5 inch and Polk Atrium 5. I am currently using them as left and surround direct in a 7.1 setup. Advantages 1. Multi-directional mounting. The speakers definitely did the job and I mounted mine at a 45 degree angle and pressed it against the ceiling and wall. You don't need any special mounting hardware for this, just a few screws and a few drywall anchors. They are great for any space with complex mounting options. What they deserve a star for: 1. They are much larger in height and width than I expected. I was expecting them to be closer to the advertised width of 4.5 inches in the cone size, but if I had to guess it's closer to the 7 inch width. They are also a lot bigger than I expected. The most interesting thing for me, when I set them at a 45 degree angle, they look the same. They are as wide as they are tall, which essentially makes them look like a square speaker.2. Sound: The speakers are generally pleasantly loud. They offer excellent richness, but my wife and I agree that they sound "tinny". I haven't added a subwoofer to our system yet and think this will fill in the gaps. By the way, this is our first true surround sound system and we know absolutely nothing about the speakers. This was just our honest review. Overall I am happy with the speakers and they are perfect for our needs, just a few comments and I hope they help others with their decision.
