Surprisingly easy to install.

I bought this to upgrade the memory in my wife's mid 2015 13" MacBook Pro. I wasn't aware of this when I ordered a 960GB Transcend JetDrive 820 PCIe Gen3 x 2 SSD (TS960GJDM820) which actually came with two special screwdrivers to open the case and eject the drive. The instructions on Transcend's website were easy to follow. First, I have Time Machine backed up to a USB drive. Then I turned off my MacBook. Then open the case, remove the old SSD and install the new SSD. I then turned the MacBookโ€ฆ

Stuck in Recovery?

IMPORTANT: If you are restoring from Time Machine, reboot and press Command+Option+R, not just Command+R. This will give you another Disk Utility that has a view in the top left corner. Click View and select Show All Devices. The SSD is shown with one partition. Select the drive yourself (a series of letters and numbers) Select Mac OSX Extended (Journaled) and then GUID Partition Map. ONLY THEN will the time machine restore the work. Whoever put the simple instructions in the box obviouslyโ€ฆ

Easy installation (same as all others available.

Fast enough (according to the specification a bit slower than the existing 256 GB in 2015 MB Pro) Easy installation (this also applies to all other available brands)).1. Backup an image of the current hard drive to a portable drive using a copy cloner.- Skip the backup details (pretty intuitive) 2.Installed JetDrive (Open the back of the laptop, unscrew the retaining screw the existing one, insert new one, fasten, attach.) - Skip details on formatting a new disk (i.e. loading from backup etc.)โ€ฆ

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Long lifespan

Works like an update - but be careful.

The SSD was installed quickly. Follow the instructions in the assessment. You need to erase the drive and set it up as a GUID partition. A quick tip to save you hours. Make sure you have a full time machine backup, install the operating system via recovery, but do not restore from time machine before you have installed the operating system. If your recovery operating system does not match your Time Machine backup operating system, you will get an error during the process. Successfully restoredโ€ฆ

Double! - Computers and accessories

Exceeded all expectations. I installed it on a 11.1" MacBook Pro Retina 15" in late 2013. So I was only able to take advantage of Gen 2 speeds. Any MBP after late 2013 can take advantage of the much faster Gen 3 speeds that this drive is capable of. out. I upgraded from a 512GB Apple SSD and LOVE the extra storage that allows me to leave (sell) my external drives at home. There is no noticeable change in battery life with this drive. Formatted to APFS in High Sierra with no issues, it takes aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Beautiful packaging
Cons
  • Available in black only

Replaced my Macbook Pro with this mid to late 2015 and didn't have too many problems. However, this is the process of installing an operating system and copying your data, and none of the guides I found covered it fully. Here are a few key tidbits I had to figure out for myself and none of the guides: Update your Mac OS to get the latest security updates etc on your old drive so it's the latest version. Do it 100%. You cannot restore a Time Machine backup using two different versions of Mac OS.

Pros
  • Everything OK!

Easy to install; Works perfectly!

Product arrived on time, well packaged, includes the screwdrivers needed to remove the back of the laptop and set screws on the current SSD. I backed up my MacBook Pro to my Airport Time Capsule. Removed the back of my laptop, unscrewed the grub screw on the old SSD, carefully pulled it out, carefully inserted the new one, tightened the grub screw again, put it back in, switched on the machine and configured the time capsule from the backup. Voila! Everything worked as usual, with a fewโ€ฆ

VERY RELIABLE AND DURABLE FOR THE MONEY

I got this JetDrive for our 11" Macbook Air in early 2014. Blame it because my son ate a lot and got a lot of crumbs in the keyboard arrived so as a multitasking mom I take it apart and think I press a lot and I think it's quite difficult to get these crumbs out of the keyboard. Get the file folder flashing screen. Got it in the " STORE' to have it 'JUST CONFIRM MY SUSPECTS' and in fact it was definitely an SSD that was damaged. It was an amazing payment for it so I said NO THANKS. It wasโ€ฆ
