Allows recording of two microphones while recording video

First, it's a well-made cable with a solid feel. I have the impression that it will last for many years. I wanted to use two mics with my camcorder and figured this cable would work. The camera has a 3.5mm stereo input, but when I plug in a single mic, I'm limited to only hearing sound from that mic. I have a gun mic and a lavalier mic and this cable allows me to use both. I plug one mic into one of the jacks and the other mic into the other jack, then plug the jack into the camera input. This gives me a lavalier sound on one channel and a shotgun sound on the other channel, a technique I often use on single shots when interviewing someone. I'm behind a camera where the pistol mic doesn't pick me up, so now I use a lavalier mic for my own audio and a pistol mic for the person I'm interviewing. I use my editing software to combine two tracks in a way that makes them sound natural. Works well! I recommend this cable.

Pros
  • Stereo Jack Cable
Cons
  • Nothing
