Review on OMU Cigarette Compressor Automobiles Compatible by Joseph Flamm

Not recommended: accessories and spare parts

I ordered this and another battery powered portable air compressor at the same time and it's a piece of junk compared to the other. After reading the supposed instructions, first press the digital "+" and "-" buttons to set the desired tire pressure. You can see the part of the instruction I made compared to what you actually get. This product contains nothing digital! It's completely analogue! Not that there's anything wrong with the analogue, but I received the wrong product? Are these the wrong instructions? Since there are no number keys, just an on/off switch, I assume you just plug it in? Once plugged in, it wouldn't start no matter how I flipped the switch; Nothing. I released the air valve from the tire and the car roared. The? When the pump was on, the switch did nothing! It stayed on no matter which way the switch was thrown! I unplugged the device from the cigarette lighter and it stayed on. My god, I can't understand this thing! I plugged the unit back into the cigarette lighter and it continued to work so I plugged the air valve into the tire and you could hear the audible change in pitch of the compressor. was now properly inflated the slightly flat tire. I watched as the analog dial slowly - very slowly - crept up to the PSI. My machine recommends 36 psi, so I let it inflate until the dial read 40 psi, and I simply deflated it to the 36 that was needed using my little handle-sized gauge. When testing the tire, the pressure didn't even come close to 40psi! My handheld meter read about 30! I went to my garage, got my digital tire gauge and made sure the tire was only 29psi. The analog dial said I should have 40psi! That's a huge difference. The only positive praise I can give this unit is the length of the power cord once plugged into the cigarette lighter port in your car. Its length is enough to reach the rear wheels of my car (Mazda CX5). What does the length of the cable mean if the real device is junk? Nothing. The instructions refer to a different product. The device does not come with a case, so it supposedly rolls around in the trunk. The analog dial doesn't read your tire pressure accurately. It took a long time to even get the tire to 29psi when I needed 36. I think that will lead to goodwill in the future. I don't even need this thing to take up space on me. I cannot recommend this product as proven. The ONLY reason I gave it two stars and not one is because it actually "worked" in the sense that there is a little compressor that sucks in air and pushes it through a tube and valve. Could you use this if you absolutely have to? Of course. Could this go better with a kids bike or maybe a basketball? I would say so. But then again, how do you know if your basketball or bike tire is inflated enough? Two stars, which is very generous.
