Review on Enhance Your Ride: PAC BCI-CH21 Backup Camera/Navigation Unlock Interface for Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/RAM Vehicles by Michael Willis

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Does not work on all vehicles listed. Didn't work on 2012 SRT Challenger.

Great idea but DEFINITELY DOES NOT WORK as advertised. I bought it primarily to add a backup camera to my 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 6 speed manual transmission which has a factory 730N RHR head unit. Other reasons I bought it were that NAV addresses (passengers) can be entered while the vehicle is in motion and the ability to watch videos (for passengers) while driving. I have followed the instructions in the email and not only am I unable to perform any backup or other functions, my head unit only works when the ignition is in the ACCESSORY position. As soon as the ignition was turned to RUN, the screen went into backlit black mode and nothing worked. I've installed and uninstalled 3x with similar results. I contacted PAC support and the technology was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and told me there was a known issue with multiple car models and years and mine was one of them. The solution he suggested was to downgrade the PAC BCI-CH21 firmware to two versions. I was instructed to install version .2 for the rear camera to work. Unfortunately downloading an older firmware will render all other functions if the PAC BCI-CH21 is not functional. This is a known issue and the firmware has not been updated. since 2017, and the only firmware that actually works on many cars is from 2015, it seems like the apps this works for are intentionally misformatted. I paid full price for the device and only have 1 of the 3 included features. For this they have to refund 2/3 of my purchase price. I gave it one star because after numerous installation attempts, hours of research online and finally a call to tech support, the rear camera works perfectly, so I gave it a star for that.
