This product is a modern, cheaper modification of the grey/yellow Dritz pliers you see in most video tutorials. Instead of a sturdy flexible sleeve to accept a 16-bar or bead clasp, this model has a plastic version with three plastic arms that essentially form torsion springs. This design is TERRIBLE. Dritz posted a video of a beautifully manicured woman quickly inserting a pin into a bar. This does not reflect reality. I've hurt both thumbs, crushed very short nails which is tricky and I only had to put one prong ring on and it's set a little crooked. As a side note, plastic torsion springs don't really last very long without bending and breaking. I am an expert level hobbyist. I only need tools that work well and last a long time. I'm willing to pay for them. WHY it's so hard and WHY so often the Dritz is our only option.
