Review on KidCo K12 Stairway Gate Installation Kit ๐Ÿšง - Baby and Pet Barrier for Enhanced Safety by Lillian Rodriguez

A great idea. Some upgrades can be used

If you absolutely have to install the gate on a stair/handrail then consider this product. The photos do not show what is included in the package (see photos). You will receive TWO square clips and 1 set of adapters in case you need to attach the top/bottom to a rounded vertical support. If you have a rounded vertical support at the top and bottom you may need to buy 2 of these. I suggest buying 1 first and see if you need the second. My first opinion after opening the package: - All the screws and extra parts could have been put in one package, but I understand why they are separate (to avoid shortages) - the package was the smallest they could get, one big piece of wood is what actually makes the package so big - after reading the instructions, drilling is REQUIRED, just don't drill the railing - the wood is good. wood color. I am installing this with a WHITE gate so it would be nice if they were painted white. It looks gaudy - The long screws holding the wood in plastic brackets are FLAT HEAD screws. It's frustrating when you try to use the drill and it keeps slipping --> all KidCo goals have Phillips head screws, why does this product have a flat head? My guess? To drive you crazy when trying to install a gate and need to use two different drivers. Installation Tips: - Install the clamps by hand first and use a low level (if you are absolutely compulsive). - You will most likely adjust the clamps up/down to set the gate properly, I've done this 3 times. - I suggest fixing the gate directly into the clamp (contrary to the product image). The KidCo Gate (2100) I installed had incredibly small screws and using an extension was a concern. I built part of the gate hinge directly into the clip so the hinge and forces act directly on the clip and you avoid any reinforcements (leverage) when your child pulls on it (see photo).
