My boyfriend and I moved into a tiny house and every inch of the space is expensive. I bought these bird cages with the intention of turning at least one of them into a pendant light. When I first got them I was concerned that the latch supporting the top of the cage wouldn't latch very well (especially when supported by a heavy bulb shade) but it latches well and is sturdy. The cage wire is thick and the paint will not peel off. We use the smaller cage as a decorative element on the closet. These amazing cages helped me with my favorite DIY project I've done so far. I'm so happy with the result!
