It works with Android phones but they just don't tell you how to do it. Well here it is

The secret to making the Mirror Link software work with an Android phone is that your phone needs to be in developer mode with USB debugging enabled. It's a feature that doesn't show up when you search and says nothing about it. To get started, go to the About section of the Control Panel, Options menu, or Settings menu, however you choose to access the Settings menu. On most phones go all the way down the list, on most phones click the about button, some phones will show the android version and build number you are running, some you need to click the button click to show them what android build number you are using but fined where the build number is shown. Once you find this, just tap the build number 3 to 20 times, eventually the developer options will be enabled. If you go back to the main menu in settings you will see something with the word 'developer' maybe developer mode maybe developer options but I will have the word 'developer'. Click on this option and in this option you will see that USB Debugging enables this function. Install any mobile app (Google makes one for Android) that you want to use while driving and install it on your phone from the Play Store. Then connect USB wirelessly to your phone and make sure you have a good cable and data. Those old $1-$3 charging cables don't work. You don't have to spend $10 or more for a good two-way charging cable. The phone with them tells you that you want your radio to use USB debugging for the display and you say yes and remember that the screen will automatically show that option on the stereo and then you just turn your phone to the side and you often start and work with the automotive software of your choice. Some manufacturers believe this will void the warranty, so do so at your own risk. I've been doing this for 10 years and never had any problems. Having trouble finding debug? Go to Google, enter your phone model and enable debug mode. In most cases, these are written guides and YouTube videos that show you exactly how to do it.
