As far as I can see - Original Soundcore Mini is 5 watts - (uses micro USB charger I think but double check) - $20. also 6W but offers more audio capabilities and uses a Type-C charger - $39. I just received the Mini 2 a day ago and am very impressed with the size. It actually sounds better (not THAT loud, but better) than my original Oontz angle. The bass/low sound reproduction is incredible for such a small device. The only downside I see so far is at full volume, as it appears the volume drops off at high/mid frequencies when the "music" actually starts. I assume it's due to the power the speaker requires for low frequencies. It's not bad, but noticeable. Turning the volume down a notch or two seems to fix this. At first I didn't even know the Mini 2 existed (when I searched "small bluetooth speaker" in the Revain) until I did a little research before finally ordering it. The Mini 3 must have just come out and I had no idea it existed. So I also ordered a Mini 3 - just for the convenience of having a speaker with a Type-C charger, as I'll get used to this as I work and my current phone and tablet already use a Type-C charger Expect the overall volume to be very similar to the Mini 2. the output power is specified there - but let's see. I'll get back to you when I can. Soundcore mini 2 is very impressive in its size. So have realistic expectations of how loud and deep they will be. This is not a replacement for a speaker five times larger. However, for something smaller than a tennis ball, the sound quality and volume are very impressive. I never expected it to sound as good as it does now. Before you get the Mini 3, if you don't care about custom audio settings (I can't worry about that) and you have the standard micro-USB connector we've all been using for years, you can probably save some money, spend a few bucks and get one Mini 2 or even the original mini if they give you an extra 2 and 3 watts you don't care. For me this will probably spend most of its life in the truck cup holder so during downtime at work you can watch videos or movies while the truck is driving and actually be able to hear it. The cases seem affordable at around $10, and the Mini 2 didn't come with its own charger or cable. The Mini 3 comes with a short charging cable, but no bricks. I'm fine with that if it keeps prices down as the last thing most of us need is another charger that we won't be using anyway. Update - after playing around with both - I can say they don't sound exactly "identical" but are very, very close. If I absolutely HAVE to compare them, to my ears the Mini 2 could have slightly better bass and the Mini 3 could have slightly better mids/treble. This may be because the speaker grille is slightly different. they are so close together sonically that I wouldn't even let that decide. I think the most important feature is the different charging connector. Personally, I'm not interested in custom EQs and various presets. This is another headache which is not needed in my life, so I'll stick with the default audio settings. I am not trying to connect 2 speakers or 20 together so this is not a problem for me. My advice would be to let the charging plug decide. If your stuff at home uses Micro USB, use MINI 2. If you use Type C, get MINI 3 and remove the extra cable. Speaker sizes are almost identical overall - no real difference, which is always taken into account. I've used the mic on both for bluetooth calls a few times, no one has ever complained about not being able to hear me. I think the $10 boxes are worth buying too. These speakers are so small you know they're going to be thrown away. So if you're not bothered about scratching them, I think it's a worthwhile investment. Truck almost every day and it does everything I need it to do and does it well. It's loud enough to drown out the sound of a big diesel truck. I use it to listen to audiobooks, videos, use GPS and answer calls while driving. To be honest, a GREAT speaker. The little strap/handle on the Mini 3 came in handy too. I use this to hang the speaker on the sun visor in the cab of my large work truck (GMC C8500 series) which allows the speaker to hang and wobble slightly while driving. That way it doesn't bounce or rattle in the cup holder (it's a very stiff vehicle) or take up space for my drink. I pull the sun visor out (as if rotating it toward the driver's window), hook the small strap onto the visor's pin/hinge, and then snap it into place. It was great for taking calls as I have to travel. Another useful feature is the automatic shutdown. When I get out to go to work, the speaker turns off after a while if it's not in use and the phone isn't in the cab. The $10 suitcase I bought for him is also priceless. I carry a backpack with all the little things a person needs these days and I can just throw in a speaker with two tablets, chargers, batteries, pill bottles, drinks, etc. and you never have to worry, that the speaker is scratched or twisted accidentally. The battery life was great too. I can get a couple of days on a single charge with limited daytime use. The built-in microphone also works well. I raise my voice (obviously) knowing I'm in a noisy truck, and since the speaker hangs from the visor (like it has it's own little suspension) it stays at head level and you can actually talk to someone - then. Which would be really cool if this speaker had a threaded socket somewhere, this allows you to use a suction cup mount (like on the frame) to attach it to your windshield or dashboard if you like. It's small enough to enable it (if it has that capability) and not obstruct your vision. All in all, this was a great purchase. I use the Mini 2 at home when I also need a small speaker and have just purchased (not yet received) a pair of Anker Bluetooth headphones - just to have the last item I carry on me converted to a USB type plug in the C connector. Don't hesitate to buy this speaker. If I lost it today, I would order a new one tomorrow. Another change - I was so impressed with Anker products that I now have many of them. Mini 2, Mini 3, "updated" Boost, Motion Plus, Life A2 NC headphones, Liberty 2 Pro headphones (absolutely amazing sound, best I've tried), one of their external battery packs with a nano charger and a vertical style wireless charger for my samsung s8 phone (which even charges through my magpul case). 5 tries to find a "golden middle ground" ) which I don't want to update. ALL of their products have proven to be very impressive. My best choice for their speakers (that I have) is the SIMPLY "upgraded" Boost speaker. Sounds even better than the larger Motion Plus, to be honest. It's so impressive I bought another one for my dad and shipped it to his house. He immediately bought a second one and uses them in pairs (that's a guy who has at least a dozen headphones from different premium brands). For its size - I don't think you'll find anything better without spending a lot ($200+ or more). Their app for setting up custom EQ settings (which I still don't use on the Mini 3, which is what I use it for) is a real bonus for having a dedicated speaker for listening to music. The Motion Plus gets a little louder, but the upgraded Boost (which is a lot smaller and cheaper) sounds a lot better at normal listening levels. Anker really won me over to their stuff. If you're shopping for headphones and want to get the Liberty 2 Pro for $99 - or don't mind spending $150 - HIGHLY recommend. Have fun shopping.
