Thing pumps great when it works. The smart pump feature stinks! If you have your hands and aren't afraid to take it apart and remove that sensor, this is a great pump! It can even work with a sensor, meaning it's a great pump anyway. However, if you put it in water and it pumps for a few seconds, pauses for a few seconds, and pumps for a few seconds, it means the sensor is not working properly. After much searching we found that if you take this sensor out you don't need to put it back in as it actually works. If you leave it inside and it doesn't pump and you're afraid to take it out, then just return it. Otherwise it's too much exacerbation. Please note that I'm not saying you should open it and take it out - I'm just saying that we did and it worked based on what we learned online.
