I bought these specifically for my Betta aquarium and noticed a build up on them so thought they were dirty so I ran them under clean water and the pretty rocks started to peel off. These are transparent stones with some kind of coating. Definitely not intended for aquarium use, they should include a disclaimer to warn people. I hope this helps protect some of the fish. After seeing this aquarium gravel, it is generally gravel. They're great for vases or whatever, but not safe for aquariums.
