This is the most helpful tool I have found to help me understand when I am dissociating. I have very intense dissociative episodes that cause me to pass out and do things that can sometimes hurt me and/or others. When I roll the ring up and down my finger I feel the pressure of the ring and when I press it the pressure increases even more. During my dissociative episodes, my pain tolerance increases very dramatically, and if I feel pressure when I turn or squeeze the ring, or feel slight pain from very hard pressure, I know I'm not dissociating, but if my ability to feel it decreases, then I will I know I'm about to have a dissociative episode and I can try other techniques to keep myself from further dissociating. The first tool I ever found that really helps me know when I'm going to have a dissociative episode, they used to be completely unpredictable and now I can have some predictability with my episodes. Definitely recommend if you dissociate like me.
