I had some Brainwavs for my Arctics 7 prior to these. Those old Brainwavs eventually wore out over the years. So I went with fabric as opposed to pleather this time for breathability. In addition I opted for the cooling gel. The cooling effect only seems to last a few minutes after I put them on but that's probably more the result of getting used to the sensation. The pads are comfortable and thicker than the original earpads or competitor products that I considered. The most important thing for me is that my ear does not touch the speaker. These have great depth and keep my ear from contacting the hard plastic inside the cup.
