We urgently needed two suits. One for 7 years, the other for 12. Both of my boys are above average height for their age - 2nd place in each of their classes (1st class and 7th class). They also have a strong physique - not fat, but not skinny either. A size 8 suit was perfect for my 7 year old and a size 16 was wearable but a bit small for a 12 year old. So we reordered a size 18. The size 18 was a bit big for him but allowed him to breathe. I liked that the shirt and tie came complete with the vest, jacket and trousers. We also bought socks and shoes separately. You can consider buying a belt. Although it didn't come with a belt, the pants have elastic at the back and hold up well. The waistcoat hides the lack of a belt.
