I think the only thing that makes this air conditioner so great is the unique packaging it comes in. Electronic equipment and compressors must not be mishandled, dropped etc and it is a pleasure to see how they have been packaged. You have a regular manufacturer's outer box, a typical large belt box with styrofoam inside, and then that inner box is much more durable than the outer box! It's so nice to see this very efficient machine in perfect condition. I have had Frigidaire, LG and GE over the years but this is my first hot tub and it does exactly what it advertises. Very cold air, extremely powerful fan at high speed but quiet even at maximum power, true wattmeter based Energy Star, simple and easy installation, looks good even for a window unit. Great remote control with a very good range and easy-to-learn controls, high-quality materials and well thought-out components. One thing that sets it apart from other window units is that the two vents at the top that disperse cold air are independent, which I like. One vent may come straight out at a higher angle, while another vent may go in a completely different direction, lower or higher. And the LED control panel that lights up can be turned off with the remote control if it bothers you. The installation instructions are excellent, but a bit confusing as some reviewers have stated that it has a "pop-out box" but this unit does not, and the 15,000 BTU and up model has a pull-out to ease the installation of heavier equipment . . This takes about 5 minutes to cook when it is finally taken out of the beautiful packaging and then two people place it on the window. It then offers all sorts of hardware to properly attach it to the window. It even comes with insulated fiberboard that can be placed on either side as the extendable sides don't offer the same good insulation. I recommend purchasing closed cell foam rolls to fill in gaps and provide better protection from the elements and possibly bugs. Revain has just about every type of weatherproof insulation imaginable for your particular device. Having shipped other air conditioners and seeing all the external damage to the units, I'm wondering what was damaged inside that I can't see right away. And I'm wondering how much performance I'm losing to possible internal damage. I firmly believe that a product packaged like this will last longer and always work when advertised.
