Review on Versatile HANMATEK HM305 Switching Variable Control by John Floyd

First of all I am not a technician when it comes to electrical testing. I do very, very simple things so so far this device has worked for my needs. I bought this unit for two reasons: 1. For low voltage electrolytic rust removal. I haven't tested the unit in this regard as my tank isn't set up, but I have an old 1940's Craftsman band saw that I'm restoring. I plan on removing old paint and rust with electrolysis so I'll report back with my results once I'm done. Based on the fact that I used an old car battery charger with no fine current control, I assume this device will be light years better for the job as long as I don't overshoot the amperage. .2. I do a lot of auto work including installing hazard lights, sirens etc. This unit is perfect for bench testing headlights before installing them! Many newer SMD LED lights can be synced together and flash patterns can be changed by applying 12V+ or 12V- to the pattern wire. This device makes it easy to place lightheads, apply power, select the desired flash pattern, and prepare the light for installation. I was also able to test the HID ballasts on some old TYRI lights that came off a Cat bulldozer. This is not an easy task for me most of the time as most of the heavy equipment is powered by 24V electrical systems which I wasn't previously set up for. There are no problems with this power supply - I simply chose 24 V, connected the light and off we went. Both worked straight away. I like the fact that the power button is on the front of the unit (no fiddling with the clunky switches on the back), with a separate output control button. This means you can turn it on to set your current, but the wires won't get hot until you turn the output on. This makes it easy to change current settings on the fly without jeopardizing your hardware. Overall I think this money was very well spent. I will update the review with any issues but for now I am a happy camper.
