Review on OXO Good Grips Smart Seal Container Set: 12 Piece Glass Containers for Easy Food Storage - Clear by Jeff Strutz

**This review is for: OXO Good Grips Set of 8 Sealed Rectangular Glass Food Storage Jars** I bought these because of the borosilicate glass. I was looking for a set of snap top containers for cooking, freezing and storing food. I also wanted something I could take straight from the freezer to the oven for pre-cooked and frozen meals. It's also nice that you can seal any leftovers in a container and put them back in the fridge for lunch the next day. The lids are very durable and I've used them a lot since I bought them 6 months ago. We wash the containers in the dishwasher with the lid on the top rack and they still look almost new. I will note that snapping the lids can be tricky, but I've found that it seems easier to use the base of my palm and gently press down on the lid while pressing the tab. This appears to be because the seal needs to be slightly compressed for it to engage properly. We also have a number of Glasslock jars that we have had for a few years, but they are not borosilicate glass. You can cook in it, but you can't go straight from the freezer to the oven/microwave. This made them great for cooking and leftovers, but not so good for food we prepared ahead of time. If you don't need extreme temperatures, it might be better to look for non-borosilicate glass as it's usually cheaper. The OXO cases also appear to be a bit more rounded/gradual on the corners and edges where the Glasslocks were more boxy. I find the lids to be a little easier to lock on Glasslock, but that may be due to age and breakage. As others have pointed out, the set of "8 items" means 4 containers and 4 lids. This is a very common marketing convention for all food containers I've come across and lists "pieces" rather than containers, so I didn't deduct any stars for that. I would say the overall quality is amazing. The lids feel solid and close well, the jar in my set looks pristine. My only real complaint is that the smallest plate in this set isn't very useful to me, but the price of the set is better than buying them individually if the other sizes work for you.
