I had a larger size from Mr. Kaffee and it was great. I've always found that I don't need that much water at once, so I either left the water on or didn't heat it as much. Not so hot what's up. When my previous kettle burned out (no fault of the kettle itself) I opted for a smaller size. The first was the 2 quart harpwell. I'm thinking of a 1.5 quart Carterton. Both are managed by Mr. Coffee. During the heating process, the handle of the kettle heats up first. So hot you can't use it with your bare hands. I find the best way to prevent this is to hold the handle directly over the kettle while it's heating up, but that doesn't prevent it. I could heat it on low, but I don't have to. The other handle of the teapot stayed cooler. Also, the spout opening mechanism is on the spout itself. Place your thumb or forefinger directly where the steam is escaping. Mechanism from another kettle has been built into the handle. Otherwise it seems very well made, just not very well designed. I will also say that I have never had an electric kettle before these two. So I didn't grow up with those things in our house. I don't know if my complaints about whistling kettles are to be expected. Just comparing the experience between my first kettle and this smaller one.
