Review on ☕️ KitchenAid Blade Coffee and Spice Grinder Combo Pack - Onyx Black: The Perfect Grinding Solution for Your Kitchen by Tom Goodlow

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I use it as a spice grinder. Very good but not perfect.

i use this spice grinder and it works great. I've only tried it with a few different whole spices, but it was able to turn them into a fine powder in a short amount of time, although I had to remove the lid, mix the powder, and grind again to get a consistency of , well, consistent. Before that I had Krups which seem to be very popular and which I hated. It sanded well, but there was no way to thoroughly clean it since the bowl wasn't removable (stupid design!). However, with Kitchenaid you can remove the bowl and wash 100% clean with no residual taste/odor AND it grinds slightly better than Krups. Overall Kitchenaid looks good, feels durable, grinds well and I expect it to last. However, it doesn't get 5 stars for a few small reasons. Firstly, the powder is not retained 100% and as a result it gets a little into the base, which is not very easy to clean due to the plastic "plates" present there. It's okay, but the powder should still remain in the cup, otherwise this area will be easier to clean. In addition, there must be some rubber feet so that the thing does not want to slip. Finally, it would be nice if there was the SPECIAL model for grinding spices. I feel like I paid $50 for a $40 coffee grinder because I don't care about the coffee grinder cup. In general, it seems that there is no "perfect" coffee grinder. Krups is cheap and sands well, but you can't clean it with soap and water and it performs poorly. The Cuisinart grinds really well and cleans up completely, but the motor often burns out for no apparent reason (and that's ugly). Kitchenaid cleans and grinds fine, but you may need to manually agitate the powder to get the consistency you want, and you'll need to clean the base after each use. Overall I find the Mühlen Kitchenaid to be the best unit under $50 and overall I am happy with the purchase.
