Review on 🎙️ OM Digital Solutions DS-40 Digital Voice Recorder: Capture Crisp and Clear Audio with Cutting-Edge Features by Abdalla Galloway

I bought this digital voice recorder because my business has new regulations requiring certain phone conversations to be recorded. After a few days of use it is now working perfectly. I also bought the TP7 accessory, which you simply plug into the DS-40's mic input and place the receiver in your ear while you're on the call. The DS-40 does an excellent job of recording these calls. I also find many other uses like lecture notes and as a daily journal for ideas. I don't know how many times I've driven down the street or somewhere where I've had an idea to remember and haven't had a chance to capture it. Now, with the size and quality of the DS-40, I just take it with me and whenever I have a similar thought I write it down for future reference. I'm also a semi-professional songwriter and musician, so it's really handy for jotting down song ideas on the fly. The bottom line is this is a great little recorder that seems to do its job very well. There are just a few things that I think could be improved. 1) The backlight seems a bit dim and there is no way to increase it. The settings are either "on" or "off". I'm assuming this is to save power, but it seems like it could be better. 2) I want to be able to rename folders and files as I want. Folders are marked AE (for recording). There is a list of presets you can choose to rename the file, but you don't have the option to set the name yourself. The names available can be helpful, but may not be exactly what you need. Files cannot be renamed. So if you want to change the name of a file to identify it by its contents, you can't do that. To be fair, you can attach comments to a file after you've downloaded it to your computer, and you can use those comments to identify its contents. Overall I am very happy with the DS-40 and would recommend it. It's crystal clear and for the price (especially here at Revain) you really can't go wrong.
