Review on πŸ”Š Monoprice 109436 Plated Speaker Banana - High-Quality Audio Connection for Enhanced Sound Experience by Sean Bouchard

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Terrible! Requires replacement in less than 1 month.

I have never had a bad experience with Monoprice products. I bought a set of 5 pairs of banana plugs at the end of October - the first pair of plugs had to be replaced after just a week, the next pair the next day and the next 2 pairs no longer provide a reliable connection today. one month functionality. PROBLEMS: 1. As other reviewers have pointed out, they have a lot of moving parts for no apparent reason. Those moving parts include a base that screws on and off to feed and hold speaker wire, and then the actual banana plug tip that screws on and off as well - but why? No idea, but both parts can be unscrewed very easily.2. The connector itself does not provide a tight and secure fit to the speaker terminals. I noticed this problem when I first installed them. The plug tip on these does not flicker/pear nearly as much as other banana plugs that ensure a proper connection. This results in the plugs never being properly inserted into the speaker terminals, and gravity creates enough force to affect the already compromised ability of these plugs to stay in the speaker terminals.3. The above two factors are further compounded by the sheer weight of each of these banana plugs. VERDICT: Terrible product design in every way. I replaced these plugs with a set of regular, even cheaper, set screw and grommet banana plugs and I couldn't be happier. Inexpensive standard plugs provide the stable, secure, properly installed connection we are all looking for. Do yourself a favor and use forks other than these.
