Review on SCOSCHE MAGCD2 MagicMount Universal Magnetic by Ray Sheptock

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Big bold letter "F ". A good idea that is not fully debugged. Fix the problems.

The magnet needs to be stronger to prevent the phone from rotating. I don't know anyone without a phone case, and the magnet barely holds the phone through the thin plastic case. A heavy phone sits at the end of a gooseneck that wants to turn the entire device into a 12V outlet. A 12V socket must be strong, robust and deep. The exhaust in the Porsche is flat and not designed to carry that much weight. As a result, the cantilever arm is not strongly anchored in the dashboard and the whole thing can easily be dangled to the side. Also, there are rubber slats that help fit the 12v socket, but they're soft rubber, not hard rubber, so they don't add to the stability. This device could be a lot better with a few tweaks, but so far I don't see it working. PS I've tried it on a Toyota and it fits completely into a 12V socket, but the stability isn't much better as a result. I conclude that this cannot work in any machine. The phone mount requires a solid mount to work, this fails completely.
