I use this switch between my main Wintel desktop (Intel Boxed Desktop Motherboard BOXDZ68DB Media Series Socket LGA1155 ATX) and my laptop running XP. This is one of the first switches I've used where I didn't have to unplug and plug in the USB to see the keyboard. Its ability to also switch two additional USB ports between boxes is a huge plus. The device looks very well made. The indicator of an active session looks a little strange: an active connection is shown in red on the right side of the indicator, an inactive one is solid amber (assuming the computer is on, it doesn't light up when it's off. ) It's processing a resolution of 2560 x 1440 easily when connected to a Dell UltraSharp U2711 27" Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor - maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440 (WQHD). What would make it ideal would be if they installed a remote switch to toggle between the two machines, but that's a minor flaw and I suspect it's easily fixed if someone wants to hack the box and flip their own switch . Update 6/28/2012: When I switch back to my XP machine, it sometimes starts repeating characters as I type. I don't see this behavior on my Windows 7 box. Updated 10/21/2013. From time to time the box needs to be unplugged from the mains as it sometimes randomly turns the display on and off. Luckily it's not that common. Now that I'm using Win 8 and Win 7, my original review just needs this update.
