I was surprised that the standard socket is T12 and not T8 so they turned out smaller than I expected - not the manufacturer's fault but my ignorance. They work in a standard fluorescent tube without rewiring, just unplug and insert the old fluorescent tube. It's a cooler hue (more blue-white) than the fluorescent and brighter than the old fluorescent - FL lamps start out brighter. but fade quickly. LEDs generally do not dim. I liked them so much that I bought them to replace all my fluorescent lights of that size.
