Review on πŸ”Œ Ableconn IU2-M2132 M.2 to U.2 Adapter - Convert M.2 NVMe SSD to 2.5" U.2 Drive by Tabish Jadhav

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works fine when used with an NVMe Gen 3 SSD and plugged into the SFF-8639 slot.

First, this does NOT apply to SATA or SAS SSDs and will not work with laptops or desktops that are not specifically designed for U.2 NVMe (PCIe Gen3 x4) form factor SSDs. While the connector looks a lot like a standard SAS connector, it isn't - it's an SFF-8639 connector. This is not recognized by SAS or SATA controllers. Install an NVMe Gen 3 (or higher) (M-Key only) SSD (any capacity) and connect it to the SFF-8639 connector (usually on a PCIe backplane) and you have a very fast drive! On a Dell T7920 with an Intel VROC PCIe controller, the Gen 3.1 SK Hynix Gold P31 SSD reached maximum read and write speeds close to the theoretical maximum (about 93%). Highly recommended if you have the right hardware.
