I chose this Hamilton Beach multi cooker because it got better reviews than my original multi cooker. Glad you did! Like my old slow cooker, this is a basic model with simple manual (not digital) heat settings. The lid is made of thick glass, not plastic, so you can see the contents better. It also holds steam better when cooking (my old lid leaked). I also like that the pot rolls so it's easy to move around the counter when empty. It's heavy enough to remain fairly stable in use. The outside of the pan does not get hot (only lukewarm). While this model has no frills, it works great for the way I use it. Besides, it was available.
