Perfect gift idea to keep in touch

I came across this digital photo frame while looking for a birthday present for my 77 year old mother. I liked it for the 10 inch size and Wi-Fi capabilities. When I read that the frame would be associated with a unique email address so anyone with the address and permission could send pictures of the frame, it was gifted to me. Idea. The frame can also play music from a micro SD card or via pre-installed internet radio stations of different genres. The frame's ability to receive voice messages and videos was also a selling point and reason enough for me to spend a little more than I expected from this product.LOCATION AND INSTALLATION: The frame appears to be well made and has VESA mounting holes on the back , allowing the frame to be easily wall mounted. It comes with a power supply and a metal rod (shown on the back of the frame) that holds it to the table. The bezel is about the same size as a standard 8" x 12" bezel and not much thicker. A remote control with two AAA batteries is included in the package. Insert the batteries before turning on the device if you intend to use it with a bezel for installation. There are also buttons on the back of the bezel to navigate the menu if the remote is lost or the batteries are dead. shows you the OSD menu. You need a Wi-Fi password to connect the frame to the wireless internet on which most of the frame's functions depend NOTE: You can pre-set up an email account for the frame if you're gifting it, and optionally photos add or delete both via the PC on the Pix-Star website and on the picture frame itself. ------------------------------ WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT.1. It's very easy to set up and works as promised.2. Pictures on the screen look great - true colors and excellent resolution (if only photos were like that).3. It's great to have internet radio and music from a micro SD card, plus being able to add external speakers.4. The OSD interface is clear and easy to use. You can use the frame to send photos downloaded to the device to other people, eliminating the need for the computer for the frame user.6. The remote control is easy to use, with clear navigation.7. Friends and family can easily send photos, video and audio messages to the frame with the FREE Pix-Star Snap apps for iOS and Android and email (also free).8. No hidden fees and commissions for Pix Star service!9. The device has plenty of onboard storage that you can expand with a micro SD card (not included). With 300 pictures and a voice message, only 3% of the internal memory was used.10. Easy to see date and time function.11. Lots of settings that allow you to personalize the way photos are displayed; both individually and in different collage styles, with different speeds and with different transitions.12. Weather information is useful and up-to-date thanks to the web interface.13. Social networks can be connected to the frame so that images posted on sites like Facebook are also automatically sent to the frame.14. Photos that the user does not want to see in the frame can be easily deleted in the settings menu.15. The high-capacity internal storage means you don't have to worry about sending too many photos to your device, and when it's "too full" you can just surf the web to snap photos of the frame without closing them to lose. I think the max is around 20,000 photos without adding any extra storage, which will be more than enough for most users. ------------ ---WHAT I WISHED WAS BETTER.- Build quality seems good but not "upmarket". Time will tell how it holds up with continued use. - A backlight on the remote control would be a welcome addition. - The games aren't really a useful addition as the remote control is the only way to navigate them without a touchscreen interface. - Instructions that are in a border are a bit confusing, but I found it helpful to go to the Pix-Star website and click Support and Knowledge Base. This address: pixstar.uservoice.com/knowledgebase is a good place to look if you have questions about the functionality of your frame. - The ability to turn off AC power and switch to battery power would be nice. ---- -- ------------------------------ CONCLUSION: The ability to easily take photos using a PC, smartphone or tablet Sending to Pix-Star Digital Frame is given wonderful function and the main one that interested me when I bought it as a gift. It was easy to register the frame, choose a unique email address for it, and send photos to the email address that automatically appeared on the frame once it was connected to the wireless internet. Now my sister and I have the ability to share photos of our kids with their grandmother, as well as voice messages and videos almost instantly. There's a lot more to this frame than other similar sizes and price points, and the FREE Pix-Star service seems to work really well. The apps are also FREE and work on both my Android smartphone and iOS devices (iPad Air 2 and iPhone). This product is packed with features (be sure to read the product description and visit the Pix Star website for more information). Friends. It would also be a good choice because my mom loved it and I recommend it for the ease of use, the many features and the crisp, bright screen.
