I haven't had long hair for a long time and was afraid to order a curling iron because I haven't used it since the 90s. I looked around and finally settled on this one. I love the color and style as well as the size. It's 1.25 inches, so it's a good size for me. I have big hands and the grip is very comfortable and I love how easy it is to change settings. The shaft, or as you call it, the curly part of the hair, is a smooth ceramic material that heats up well and to which the hair doesn't stick. It does its job perfectly, heats up quickly and does everything I wanted it to. It also has a cool cord that doesn't get tangled easily, although it was pretty neat, and for the forgetful of us like me, it cuts off after an hour. I can't remember how many times I had to turn around and run home because I thought I left my curling iron on. It's been a long time, but I still remember. lol I think this is a great little curler, would buy again.
