Review on Mercury Single Outboard Control 8M0059686 by Hunter Feerey

I bought this whaling ship partially converted to a center console and it looks and works great! They had a Gen1 throttle assembly on the left side of the console that got in my way. It was a terrible place, but there wasn't a good way to top it off. You could build a clamp or flip the guts somehow. Although I wanted something prettier. The first hurdle I encountered was the cables. You need Gen 2 cables! The next problem I had was that the Gen 1 has an ignition but this one doesn't. No problem, I bought and connected a separate ignition/alarm system. Next I had to adjust the cables for this throttle setting. Forward gear engaged almost immediately, while reverse had a little more travel to engage. I also had to tighten the throttle to make it more responsive. Overall the install was pretty easy to do yourself (I'm mechanically inclined but new to boats and outboards) and it looks great!
