I was very surprised when I received the Vastar received tripod adapter how small and light it is. That was good news. The last thing I needed was something bulky or heavy attached to my phone and then to the mini tripod I have. My wife and I travel to Cancun and enjoy filming our experiences and conversations, especially at restaurants. With this adapter I can easily attach it to my mini tripod and put my phone on the table to film us. The adapter rotates easily and locks securely so you can position your phone either horizontally or vertically. Another plus is that you can use the adapter as a grip to hold your phone while recording video without attaching it to a tripod. I don't like using a selfie stick and smartphones are notoriously difficult to hold as a camera. I always feel like I'm putting my thumb on the camera lens. This device allows me to securely hold my phone as if it were a camera. I'm not exactly sure what the adapter's top hot shoe is for. Maybe it could be lighting, a microphone, etc. However, I don't really see the possibility of using it on a smartphone for my app. This is a simple device that holds your phone securely and can be attached to either a regular sized tripod or a tripod. mini tripod.
