I like that this device has a clearly lit screen that you can see at all times. While this may limit screen lifespan as the backlight has a finite lifespan, it's still probably more than enough for the length of time I'll own the device. I returned other devices because they used an LCD screen that only lit up for a minute and then went dark. For me this was a major disadvantage as it was very difficult to control the device at a glance. Beware of many advertised devices as they show the screen with the device turned on, which is a misrepresentation of the actual operating status. You can also see if they have a TFT display with variable brightness as they are constantly lit. I am deducting a star because the device cannot be set up without using the mobile app and without the app you have to accept the default settings. It would get 5 stars if the device itself had menu customization options that could be accessed from the device screen.
