There's nothing in the jaws that can be fixed. In fact, the jaws are 100% smooth on the inside. 3: After an hour of fiddling, I finally got it to hold. In fact, this condition was achieved by inserting the blade into the jaws as far as possible and tightening them as tight as I could. Then press on the back of the blade and on the front of the blade (the edge closest to your hand) and apply working pressure. If it slips, turn it to the other side and re-center the blade without loosening the clamps, tighten the screw again after re-centering. Do this a few more times until it clicks into place. Now that you've ruined the trailing edge of the blade, maybe it's safe to use. If it slips again during work, simply repeat the process. Great tool, I like its security, I can't work with a loose blade and I can't work with a dull blade, so if you can use this tool without changing blades it's perfect.
