I was looking to upgrade from an instant pointer thermometer for my steaks and thought it was a good investment - not too many bad reviews. I was wrong! We ate rib eye and it was the 3rd time we bbq and the WORST time! Readings were all over the chart, thought it had been done multiple times (it was bleeding when the temp was almost done! So a lot of money turned into shoe leather. We have successfully seared these steaks 2 times before using a different thermometer), but it was hard to read the dial so I thought, especially with Father's Day coming up, let's read a thermometer better. It's easy to read, but the numbers are irregular, and we know how to handle these things, so it wasn't user error. This is back and just another example of mass produced POS from China. And no, I do. I don't think I'll get a replacement... --why the big bucks (bad steaks) go down the drain? Because if you keep having to cut it open to see if it's done, you'll run out of juice and you'll end up with shoe leather. I love taking it off the grill, bringing the temp down about 2 degrees to my desired temp, then after 5 minutes of rest, I enjoy the steak with all its juices and keep it tender. This is not possible with this below average thermometer.
