It's a rivet and holds up freshly peeled skin
I had an old rivet from my multi tool bag and ordered these new rivets which worked great to replace the missing one. I didn't have a rivet compression tool, so I just tightened the new rivet in a vise, which was probably overkill and left a few marks on the head, but worked fine.
