The idea is great, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. I borrowed it from friends and made it so I could use an electric ATV winch instead of a cheap hand winch and cable. I bought another one to replace it. First, the bolts that the rollers ride on are different on the new one. Friends had very little thread, and the rollers rode on the round body (handle) of the breech. The new screws are firmly tightened. So the rollers now run on threads. The vertical pipe tube has a welding area protruding on the square that prevents the platform from moving up, but more down. From what I can see this is how they attach the tube to the square tube. (photo) Why don't they weld somewhere else where it doesn't interfere, that's a sign of poor engineering, design and manufacture. Either that or just sand it down so it's smooth. The square tube is 1/8 inch larger than the vertical round tube. Sixteenth would be more than enough. This makes the whole unit look sloppy and leaves the cord dangling on the reel. (Do yourself a favor and ditch the cable. With all that crap in that block, it's going to kink and stick. Both replaced with synthetic ATV winch cable.) The winch cable came in like a bird's nest (photo). Lifting heavy objects to the height of the trunk of a large pickup truck. Cons: Poor quality control, cable on spool was a bird's nest (pic), had welds preventing platform from lowering, sloppy fit of vertical tube on square tube that platform rides on. Welds are questionable. not on level ground, it will rotate. Depending on the strength of the person operating the winch, two people may be required to operate it. Assembling the winch requires a magnet or other means of lowering the nut in the tube. This is another design flaw. All they had to do was pierce it with a bolt and nail it from the inside. Then you could hang the winch without the Chinese assembly puzzle. For hunters planning to use this on deer, I had over 200lbs with my friends and we were all the way down and the deer kept sliding because the platform was rotating and then slanted. When you plan to use it, save a couple of straps that you simply pull to tighten and tie the reindeer in front of the winch. During his career he has worked with manufacturing, machinery and mobile devices. It's a great idea, but there are many improvements that could be made, mainly in the manufacturing process.
