This is a really beautiful chandelier. The remote is well thought out with all the options you need and the unit will beep when you change a setting with the remote. Please note that you cannot install this light with a dimmer. - ON/OFF wall switch only. When you turn on this unit with the wall switch or remote control, the unit will turn on the light (not the fan) at maximum brightness regardless of when the light was last turned on. The lighting is LED, very bright white and so bright you almost need sunglasses to look at it! It's also omnidirectional, so it lights up the entire room. You then have to use the remote control to adjust the color and light intensity to something more reasonable. IMHO this is a real minus for this lamp. You can leave the wall switch on all the time and just use the remote to control the device, but you'll still have the same brightness problem when you turn it on for the first time. As is usual with these things, the installation and operating instructions are very patchy and the assembly is a bit like a mechanical IQ competition. It helps if you have previously installed ceiling fans. A mistake in installing the unit is that the miniature LED power connector is clearly marked Y for yellow wire on one side of the connector on the LED and W for white on the other side. However, the plug can only be installed one way, and the colors of the wires are different from those that appear after the plug is inserted. This makes you nervous about whether the device will work properly when you turn it on, but that's not a problem. Luckily, the LED connector is "foolproof" with a "key" and impossible to install incorrectly. Also, the last LED string has a connector already installed (which should not be removed) and there is no second set of cables for this connector as shown in the instructions. The ceiling mount has a great design and makes it easy to install after you install about 25 pieces of crystal jewelry (they call them crystal balls) by hand, which is not that difficult. The unit is heavy at just over 30 pounds, so make sure you have a suitable ceiling mount. It comes with spare "trinkets" and six spare rectangular triangular crystals, which is good. The extra six square triangular pieces really have nowhere to install unless there are broken or missing pieces, but it's not clear what to do with them, and the answer is that "nothings" are replacement parts. The instructions end with "attach the octagonal thread to the center of the frame" but as far as I can tell this refers to a strange thread of small crystals that looks like part of a bracelet meant to be inserted appears the middle of the frame. a frame so you can hang the last piece of jewelry under the center of the device, which then looks like a chain but isn't. They provide a pair of white gloves to use to avoid staining the crystal or leaving fingerprints when handling the instrument. You will not want to clean this lamp by hand! A lot of people complain that installation requires a long Phillips screwdriver, and it's true. However, what they don't say is that it must also have a magnetic tip to hold the screw on the tip of the screwdriver! If you do not have such a screwdriver, I recommend that you buy one, otherwise the four main adjustment screws simply will not be available without it. You can try screwing a screw into the end of a long screwdriver, which will be awkward. The fan works great, is completely silent and has six numbered speed settings on the remote. Your napkins will fly in all directions above the kitchen table if the fan runs fast enough. In the summer it's great to have a cooling fan above the kitchen table where you can sit with a cool drink and the fan helps keep you cool which is why I bought this unit. Fan balancing was not required, although magnet weights were supplied for this (no instructions).
