Review on πŸ’‘ Programmable Light Control - Westek SLC6CBC 4 by Mark Crawford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It just works. What else do you need?

This is the fourth light control I installed on the porch. I've tried Radio Shack/X-10, several others, and this one. Other units were turned on for several hours, then turned off, then turned on again at 5 a.m. and through noon. Or not. It's annoying. Westek simply runs stably and does not need to be reprogrammed after a power failure. Rainy day? It could happen. snow day? Maybe, maybe not. But when it gets dark - Blink! It lights up. The front door lamp is large and square, with frosted glass on four sides, with the bulb pointing down. This made the operation of the previous three light sensors particularly problematic. It is located on a partially covered porch, so it is not exposed to direct rain or sun. I put in a thin cylindrical GE LED daylight bulb (5000*K?) and it is now long enough with Westek that the tip of the bulb protrudes about 1 inch from the bottom of the fixture behind the frosted glass. -2". This means that we get a little more light than if the bulb were completely in the frosted housing. Random function or timer function, just normal lighting from dusk to dawn. Which works great.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Low beam
