Surprisingly good - portable tech

Just received so I'll update later Unboxing: Nice box but clearly ESL text and documentation. I don't mind non-English oriented items but some instructions may be less clear and this can be distracting for some when gifting as it may be due to counterfeiting or cheaper quality products (which is not the case). Installation: The clock has been fully discharged First. Hopefully a full discharge won't affect battery life. The instructions included a QR code to get the app (iOS or Android, I have iOS). The download went smoothly, it asked for a phone number or email address, but that never got me to look at it or use it for anything. The app crashed on the first pairing attempt but stayed active on the second attempt. but could not establish a connection. Have tried 4-5 times and keep getting a connection error message. As previously mentioned, in this case perform a factory reset (hold the crown/button for 15 seconds). As soon as I did that, it connected immediately. Oddly enough, to align the hands at 12 o'clock, you have to manually calibrate the hands using the buttons. This is key as the time up to this point is completely wrong. Usage/Thoughts: Nothing to say, it's pretty simple. It can display digital date/time, steps, distance traveled (phone GPS), heart rate and calories by pressing the crown/button. Heart rate seemed to work, which is tremendous for this price point. Messages and phone numbers scroll as they arrive. The face is bigger than I expected (bought for the wife) and the weight is actually quite light which is embarrassing of the quality but overall good. Purpose of use. The screen is actually blank. When not active, they look like an analog clock. It's actually very smooth. I'm really excited about the look. I've ALWAYS looked for "hybrid" (analog hands on smartwatches) and most looked very crappy or very expensive (Withings/Vivoactive). There was even less choice as it was for my wife and she needed something office/work appropriate and stylish. Stylistically, this watch is almost perfect (brownish dial and white strap). It looks very good in person. If the face was a little smaller it would be 100% perfect. Well, so far I'm very happy with the purchase. Comparing it to other similar watches and what I paid ($65) I'm thrilled! My wife is going on a business trip with them so I'll report back on the results soon. UPDATE: returned. The most basic function of a watch is to keep track of time. These "watches" couldn't do that. The arrows do not have a typical gear wheel, so they can fail. You can recalibrate it, but it needed it every other day and got sour.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
