This is a replacement for a lost key/fob. That works fine. The key part is OBD programmed so you need someone with it. The key fob programs through a weird series of ignition cycles and the opening and closing of the driver's door (seriously. I know it sounds like a sick joke if you're trying to open and close the door multiple times, and would be quite funny in the long run .) There is a video of the process on YouTube. My locksmith had to pull one out if he couldn't figure it out himself. Once he did it, everything worked perfectly and cost half the cost of a dealer replacement, including programming. I didn't have the small circle with the Mazda logo on the back. If that's important to you, go to the dealer.
