Review on RJ Camera Camcorder Interface Universal by Gerald Hill

Bought for my Sony HDR-CX560V camcorder, I have a HVL-20DW2 video light and I had to connect it to my camcorder, but of course the Sony camcorder only has an Active Shoe interface for electronics Active digital microphones or camera lights. So installing my HVL meant I needed either a mounting bracket or a removable crank. I already had a mount for my shotgun mic, so any other mount just won't work with the large shotgun mic or the HVL. So I looked at the Active Shoe Connector Adapter, got it today and it solved my problems. It fits snugly in the slot and was easy to insert as it has no connecting pins but a solid plastic block. It tightens with a screw in the socket like other Active shoe accessories, forming a firm hold that easily supports my HVL and included NP-F970 battery. After I removed the shoe accessory, the Active slot was perfectly fine. My accessories worked great and there was no damage from the shoe mount on the Active slot. That way I know I can securely attach this shoe mount to and from the camera which was my main concern as any damage to the active shoe socket could damage the camcorder. It's built fairly solidly when mounted in the socket and camcorder, and with the lamp and battery it was well balanced on my camcorder, and the metal shoe mount at the top didn't warp, dent, or show any signs of breaking under load. Overall I'm very happy with this addition and it has saved me from buying another mount or detachable handle that I don't need. For the sake of money and convenience, I highly recommend buying this for your compatible Sony camcorder if you want to connect regular camcorder accessories to your camcorder that don't need to be connected to a powered camcorder.
