Review on ๐Ÿ’ช NEIKO PRO 03716B Torque Multiplier Power Wrench: 3/4", Strong 2,200 Foot-Pound Torque, Durable Cr-Mo/Cr-V Steel by Brandon Skeet

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Advertised Odds WRONG - FIRST POST 3 YEARS AGO!

I bought 3/4 inch = 1 inch outside. Execution. As another reviewer pointed out THREE YEARS AGO, the advertised 3:1 ratio is WRONG. The actual ratio is 3.5:1. If you accidentally use a lower gear ratio in an accurate torque application, you are overtightening the fastener. Why is the wrong ratio STILL printed on the instrument? Anyway, I bought this to mount the huge nut that holds the piston to the rod in a 35 ton hydraulic cylinder. The nut should be torqued to 800 ft-lbs. - It's a lot, not easy to do. Reaching 800 pounds was easy. albeit with that multiplier and my 30" torque wrench set at just 270 lb-ft. It appears to be well built, but anyone who has used it in a precise torque application with the completely incorrect specified ratio may have overtightened the fastener. So what's new here? Who reads the instructions? Who cares? Who is careful enough? The answer is nobody. Can you imagine selling a tool for $230 and misrepresenting the basic characteristics of the tool? That previous review, which first reported that the actual ratio is 3.5:1 and NOT 3:1, was published THREE YEARS AGO!1 Still no solution? Humans are hopeless idiots; that is an irrefutable fact.
